2024, Back in the studio

You're looking at Mabel, the one and only dog that has ever defeated me in my studio.

In 2020, Mabel came to one of my treat toss events. She was extremely nervous and shy. I had to make the decision that moving forward with the session wasn’t a good idea.

So I told her owners that we could schedule a make up session in the comfort of her own home.

When I pulled up, I couldn’t even believe she was the same dog! She ran right up to me in the driveway, tail wagging so hard she nearly fell over. She got the zoomies almost immediately and her personality came right out.

She taught me early on that location plays a big role in session planning!

Fast forward to 2024, and Mabel returned to the studio for a private session with her Mom and SHE NAILED IT!

What a complete turn around from 2020 Mabel.

Today I received an email l from her Mom, letting me know that she passed away.

She wrapped up her email by saying this....

"I just want to thank you for what you do and the magic you create with dogs and their owners. Mabel was my very best friend and having those session photos now means more to me than can ever be put into words. She was such a special dog and we had an incredible bond that I'm so happy you were able to capture for us."

Mabel is 18th dog (that I am aware of) that I have photographed that has passed away this year and it will never get easier or less sad when I am told the news.

The only positive is that I know the photos from our sessions are absolutely treasured. I know because everyone expresses this deeply when they notify me of their pets passing.

Saying "I am beyond grateful" sounds a bit cliche, but truly. I truly am beyond grateful that something I love doing with all of my heart, plays such a big role in so many peoples lives when it comes to the memory of their pets.

Extra snuggles and snacks for your pups tonight for Mabel
