Loveland, Colorado, just one hour north of Denver, at Sylvan Dale Guest Ranch, a breathtaking, family-owned working horse and cattle ranch, operating since the 1920s. With over 3,200 acres of rolling foothills, red rock cliffs, and scenic pastures, Sylvan Dale is the perfect backdrop for western-inspired portraits and unforgettable outdoor experiences.
Photography instruction, lodging and meals.
The cost is $1,795 which includes the workshop, meals and lodging from Sunday - Wednesday (3 nights). Also includes a breakfast trail ride on Tuesday morning.
Add on 2 nights for $625 to enjoy ranch activities of your choosing.
Hobbyists, beginners, pros. Anyone that wants to be more successful when it comes to photographing dogs & horses or incorporating pets into your client sessions. People want their animals involved in their sessions so lets learn how we can make them look their absolute best!
Join me Sunday, June 14th at 3pm for a 3 night stay at the ranch. Over the course of 3 days, we will photograph dogs and horses (with and without people) during both Sunrise and Sunset sessions.
We will have some scheduled time between sessions to sit with our laptops and go over the images from our sessions. We can talk about anything you may have struggled with so you're better prepared for our next session, go over editing or even talk business!
This is an "ask me anything and everything" kind of workshop and nothing is off the table. I will be showing you exactly how I photograph my sessions. This includes going over posing, directing and how to handle certain situations, behaviors, temperaments, etc. You will also be giving plenty of opportunities to shoot, direct, pose, ask questions, etc.
There will be times carved out during the day where we can hang in our comfy clothes, with laptops, coffee and talk shop!
I LOVE unique experiences and new adventures so combining a workshop while also staying at a ranch made perfect sense.
5 guests is my MAX. I want a small group where I can actually focus on YOU. I want you to leave the workshop eager and confident to take on your next pet session.
I am only opening this workshop to 5 people. The workshops I have enjoyed and thrived the most in were small and intimate. It allows more one on one time with each person.
Prior to our stay, we will be able to let the ranch know of any dietary needs.
After our sunrise photo session on Tuesday morning, we will make our way to the barn by 7:45am. From here, we will hop on our horses and head out on a trail ride to a breakfast spot with other ranch guests and return back by about 10:15 a.m.
If you do not wish to ride, there is also an option to hike to the location.
We’ll be staying in cozy private cabins! We have five individual rooms split between side-by-side cabins. Everyone will have their own room and bathroom.
Deposit: A $500 deposit is required upon registration to secure your spot & confirm your guest reservation at the ranch.
Remaining Balance: Due by April 14, 2026.
No. They will give everyone the run down before we head out. Bring boots!
We will be staying in cozy cabins so no need to pack for camping.
I would however, be sure to pack boots to ride and or hike in and warm clothes for potentially cooler mornings and evenings (hat, gloves, coat, warm layers) as well as rain gear, just in case! Also a flash light or head lamp will be good to have! They also have a pool!
See "Helpful Information & Links" below for a suggested packing list.
Denver Airport is only about an hour south of the ranch and would be the most convenient.
Once the workshop is fully booked, I will start an email thread where anyone is welcome to arrange carpooling.
