I ate dinner in a restaurant alone this night in the Tetons. It was actually quite nice. I could sip my spicy margarita, slowly eat my dinner and take off whenever I was ready....the nice thing about solo travel is being on no ones schedule but your own. Only thing I had to do this night was find a good spot for sunset.
I drove around. Pulled in an empty parking lot right in front of the Tetons and giggled when I remembered the mountains name means "3 teats".
I turned up my music and meandered around the empty lot, leaning against the hood, staring at the mountains, and slow smoked a cigarette which I like to do occasionally on my solo trips when the moment is just right. Makes me feel like I'm the main character in a gritty, dramatic, movie from the 90's.
I watched what I thought was the sunset, got in my van and headed towards my campsite.
But it was far from over....
5 minutes, 10 minutes, each minute it got more and more and more intense.
The sky was on fire in my rear view mirror.
I must've pulled over 3 different times to fully take it in.
When I thought it couldn't get any more intense, it did!
So I pulled over again, got my camera out, crouched down behind some bushes to put these beautiful yellow flowers in front of me and the pink skies, and took one of the sweetest pics ever!
I love that my photos put me back into a feeling, a mood, a scent, my own story.
Hope you like it :)
